SPELLMAN published his first book of poems,
The Beautiful
Days, in 1964, and
his second, Things I Must Have
Known, just last
year. Between these books, he worked for many years for the
NEA, and taught African-American studies, poetry, and jazz
at Emory, Rutgers, and Harvard Universities.

Press.
He is currently at work on a new manuscript,

Odicy, which is
a cycle of short narrative poems. He lives in Kansas and
teaches at the Kansas City Art Institute and the
University of Kansas. You can read his poem

No: A Journal of the
Arts.
REBEKAH
LAEL EDWARDS’ first book of poetry,
Then’s Elsewhere,
will be published by
Redwood Coast Press
in August. As a UC Berkeley graduate student in
English, she is writing a dissertation on fraudulent
embodiment, counter archives, and the aesthetics of
uncertainty.
